The new year saw Kensington Congregational Church welcome a new organist, Michael Zadig. Michael is a true New Englander, born in Boston and living in Massachusetts his whole life.
His father is an Episcopal priest who was ordained in 1960 and is still active in church ministry. His mother was an organist and choir director when not working at her other job as Director of Special Education at Boston Children’s Hospital. Michael and his brother were choirboys in Boston for many years at All Saints Church in Ashmont. After starting to play the organ during high school, Michael studied with John Rose at Trinity College in Hartford (CT) where he earned a degree in Classics. Following graduation, he worked as a private school teacher of Latin and Greek for almost 20 years before changing careers. He now works for a small research company based near Boston. His musical career has included stops as Director of Music and Organist at churches in Athol, Springfield, Boston, and Marlborough MA over the past 25 years. Michael has two children, both in high school, and a dog named Leo. Welcome, Michael! The church choir is also back and singing under Michael’s direction. And new members are always welcome.
